Astore Markhor Hunting in Pakistan – The Ultimate Mountain Trophy

The Astore Markhor (Capra falconeri falconeri), one of Pakistan’s most celebrated wildlife species, stands as the true symbol of strength, beauty, and wilderness. Distinguished by its elegant corkscrew-shaped horns, flowing beard, and majestic presence, the Astore Markhor inhabits the rugged mountains of Gilgit-Baltistan, particularly around Astore, Skardu, and the Indus Valley. These graceful yet powerful animals roam at altitudes of 2,000–3,500 meters, navigating steep cliffs and rocky slopes with ease. Their striking horns, often measuring over 40 inches, make the Astore Markhor one of the most coveted trophies in the world of mountain hunting.

For hunters and adventure seekers alike, Astore Markhor hunting in Pakistan represents the ultimate test of skill, patience, and endurance. The experience takes you deep into the heart of the Karakoram, surrounded by towering peaks, clear mountain air, and breathtaking landscapes. Conducted under the Community-Based Trophy Hunting Program (CBTHP), Astore Markhor hunting is legal, ethical, and conservation-driven. The program ensures that hunting quotas remain sustainable and that a significant share of the revenue directly benefits local communities and wildlife conservation efforts.

The Astore Markhor has become a global symbol of Pakistan’s commitment to sustainable hunting and ecological preservation. Each hunt offers not only a world-class trophy but also an unforgettable journey through the majestic northern highlands—where adventure, conservation, and culture merge to create a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
